Allied Steel Erection Company of Oklahoma City was founded in 1939 by George Gamble. The company worked on small steel erection projects within the State of Oklahoma with equipment that consisted of gin poles, winch trucks and stiff legged derricks. During the 1950's, Allied Steel expanded their steel erection market from Oklahoma to the surrounding states by moving into larger erection projects such as churches, schools, cotton gins and manufacturing plants. They also expanded their equipment to include some 25 Ton to 30 Ton American Cable Cranes.
Allied Steel Erection Company incorporated in 1960 and changed their name to Allied Steel Construction Company. They moved a few blocks from the original location to their current location of 2211 NW 1st Terrace, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 73107. Allied Steel continued to expand their marketplace in the 60's by doing business with the lead mines in Colorado, high rise towers in Texas and Florida and arenas in Oklahoma. Their crane fleet now included approximately ten cranes from 25 to 50 Ton capacities.
Allied Steel’s founder, George Gamble, sold the company in 1967 to his chief estimator, W. N. Bryson. Under Mr. Bryson’s direction the company continued to expand into all areas of the country. In addition to the erection work, the company began installing storage rack systems and power plant coal handling systems. Allied vigorously pursued and serviced the oil field crane rental market and grew the crane fleet to include approximately thirty cranes ranging in size from 25 Ton to 200 Ton capacity.
From 1982 to 1994, Allied Steel was owned by Bristol Steel and Iron Works of Bristol, Virginia. Allied Steel continued to increase its influence in the crane rental market of Oklahoma while they increased the size of their hydraulic crane fleet to better serve Oklahoma. The company also expanded to include plant and maintenance work while continuing with steel erection projects.
Allied Steel was purchased by a group of investors from Oklahoma City during 1994. The company continues steel and pre-cast concrete erection, in and around Oklahoma, along with a strong crane fleet to serve the crane rental market. Allied Steel Construction and Crane Rental continues to grow to better serve Oklahoma and the surrounding states.
